In this chapter we will look at basic setup of Google Search Console and generating sitemap for the search engines.

In the previous post, we connected your web app to your own host so we’re now ready to serve it to users via google.

First of all, register or log into your Google Search Console using your google account.

Next, you will want to add your property

A pop up will come asking for the domain of your site

Enter domain for your site
Enter domain for your site

It will ask for you to verify your domain by setting a TXT record to your DNS.

Copy the value that it requests, then go to your DNS management console, in this example with GoDaddy.

Enter the TXT record for Google verification

Make the type TXT and Host @. Copy the TXT value from Google and set TTL to smallest figure (if you want it to be live as quick as possible).

Then just wait a bit (in the case above up to 30 mins) and go back to Google and click verify.
